District 9 Hosts Successful
 Western Regional Umpire Outreach Clinic

The calls of "Safe, Out & Strike" echoed through the building as 60 umpires
from around the State took part in the Western Regional Umpire Outreach Clinic hosted by Washington District 9.

Get in position... Elbow horizontal... Arm up 90 degrees... Turn your fist in... Barked the instructors.
This was the sound heard as Little League Western Regional Umpire Trainers from
California, Oregon and Washington instructed umpires from around the State in a boot camp style clinic March 27 - 29

One umpire with 7 years experience said:

"Before I came to this clinic I thought I was an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10
Now I see I was only a 2 and now I'm a 5"
 

The level of all umpires in the state is on the rise thanks to precision like mechanics being taught and
demanded by Bill Carter of Little League Western Regional office.

The clinic was so overwhelmingly positive; Bob Toigo District Administrator (Washington District 9)
Announced the Clinic will be back in 2010 (Probably the last weekend in February) and open to the first 70 registrants...

Leagues around the state will be notified in November of 2009 that registration will be opening.

One League President said:

"We saved our league lots of money by attending this clinic.
In past years we had to send our umpires to San Bernardino for this level of training"
